PATRIZIA MAZZOLI

The female figure is the fulcrum of Patrizia Mazzoli's works: her physicality, her sensuality, her ability to communicate a presence or absence. Every face, every hidden or unveiled nudity is the fruit of a life experience, or of an aspiration to be one. As in the most intimate of diaries, granted to a complete stranger, Patrizia Mazzoli, artist self-taught, she interprets art as an opportunity for an unrepeatable emotional diary: every place, every body, is a terrain for explore to experience the inexhaustible pleasure of discovery up close, each time different, each time capable of generating, together with new cognitive acquisitions, renewed sensations. Each work of the talented artist then becomes a attempt of interior appropriation of the subject, which is relived as if one wanted to impress it in the flesh and in the mind in order to then be able to distill it into a corresponding expressive figure.

Her expressiveness is based on presuppositions of a clear figurative matrix, favoring the portrait formula: from female figure to emblematic subjects such as the rose that becomes a symbol of feminine beauty and the essence of each woman, but also of strong mixed feelings. Essence that reveals itself slowly and only to those who stop to observe it, to listen to it and savor it day after day.

The presence of a profound spirituality is felt in these canvases, as if this painting were the representation of how much is stirred in the soul of the painter, of her sensations, of the questions that stir her conscience, thus doing to emerge reflections on the meaning of existing. These paintings enchant for their compositional balance, as well as for the skilful accord of acrylic colors, all played on warm and dominant shades of passionate reds declined in delicate shades and transparencies.

The art of Patrizia Mazzoli, through a language capable of intensifying the emotionality of vision, succeeds in establishing a profound communication with the observer, because her so intimate and intense narratives take us back to a lost world, to the Edenic sweetness of our youth.

Her female figures seem drawn from the suspended dimension of memory or dream, elegant and supple they reveal themselves in diaphanous semblances, as if the profiles were defined by an enveloping and mysterious aura. With elegance, she moves on canvas, light and melancholy, as delicate interpreters of the authentic substance of feelings and emotions.

"The Color of Emotions"

Interview, by Stefano Vietina, with Patrizia Mazzoli

“A kind person creates happiness.
And with my paintings I try to stop on the canvas the kindness, the inner elegance, which is not just a aesthetic fact. " Patrizia Mazzoli inaugurates her exhibition “The colors of my emotions”, organized by Rosanna Raffaelli Ghedina at the Miramonti Majestic in Cortina for the cultural review Cortina Terzo Millennio.
Vernissage at 18.00. 24 canvases, acrylic on canvas: the protagonist is in particular the woman, a significant but almost never predominant element, rather inserted in the scenario, immersed in the landscape, be it the urban context of Venice, Treviso, Vicenza, The three peaks of Lavaredo or the snowy expanses.
Then the tango, as a representation of the sensuality of life, a symbol of passion.
"I didn't understand why I instinctively painted women - explains Mazzoli - then the art critic Prof. Paolo Levi, highlighted a sort of 'emotional diary', in which the female forms are an unconscious inner journey.
I love grace, kindness and elegance, in an aesthetic sense, but above all the courteous soul.
And I try to testify to my point of view in a historical moment in which often, instead, transgression it flows into vulgarity and the woman's body is commodified. "

How is her woman?
"Rich in facets, with its frailties, fears, courage and strength, where appearance gives way to the essence. With the strokes of color, I describe the many sides of femininity: marriage and motherhood, everyday life, a change of clothes, a walk on the beach, the restlessness of a wait, a dance on the sea and so on. Attitudes that retain a certain sense of modesty, letting the inherent sensuality shine through.
So I often depict women from behind, because the mystery fascinates, and suggests what is implicit, but in at the same time it is a sign of confidentiality and discretion. "
Born in Treviso, but living in Pieve di Cadore for years, Patrizia Mazzoli she cultivated art from a very young age, even if she then kept it and matured it through a professional path which has unfolded, in various companies, from marketing to training, from coaching to the organization of events.
"I immediately felt the need to draw: the first scribbles and then at the age of six the comics, with which I won some competitions reserved for children. But my studies were unfortunately far from that high school artistic to which I would have liked to subscribe. From company secretary to interior designer, then, I tried to vent my creativity, creating alternative and innovative furnishings for the period, and at the same time writing poems.
Then in 2000 the desire to paint re-emerges strongly in me, and I decide to experiment with the first splashes of color on some wooden supports, and I paint real pictures on furniture, cupboards, sideboards, chests, and various furnishing accessories.
So, in 2015, I decided to deepen my pictorial knowledge, studying and practicing even today at a art workshop in the province of Treviso. "
The exhibition is part of a project, "which arises above all from the love I feel for my region, Veneto, and is meant to be a journey through some glimpses of the various provinces, observed with the gaze of a woman through her emotions in the atmospheres of hidden corners, or historical architectures, revisited by my brushstrokes.
And I am happy to be able to exhibit in Cortina, in the heart of the Dolomites, surrounded by a fairytale landscape. "

"The Color of Emotions"

Interview, by Fedele Eugenio Boffoli, with Patrizia Mazzoli

Personal exhibition of the painter Patrizia Mazzoli who exhibits, until 8 March 2020, at the "Miramonti Majestic Grand Hotel" in Cortina d’Ampezzo (BL). The initiative, created in collaboration with "CortinaTerzoMillennio", will be inaugurated on Saturday 25 January 2020 at h. 18, by Rosanna Raffaelli Ghedina (journalist) and Sergio Favotto (art critic), with musical accompaniments by Giovanna Maccatrozzo (piano) and the voices of Martina De Negri and Giulia Barbiero.
We talk about it with the exhibiting artist

How was the project born?
For over twenty years, they have been organizing this prestigious cultural event in Cortina d'Ampezzo, which brings to the territory some of the greatest exponents of contemporary thought in the literary field, musical, historical, scientific, spiritual, political, economic and artistic. My project was born first of all for the love I feel for my region, Veneto, and is meant to be a journey through some glimpses of the various provinces, observed with a woman's gaze through her emotions in the atmospheres of corners hidden, or historical architectures, revisited by my brushstrokes.
The project was presented to the organizers in part, because it is in progress, and will be completed next autumn. On the occasion of these meetings, I created some works dedicated to the Dolomites, the mountains that form scenario at the show and that the whole world envies us. In this way I wanted to thank Cortina D'Ampezzo, a wonderful and very hospitable place. I am particularly happy to have been selected to represent art in this 2019/2020 edition. In this regard, I would like to express my gratitude to the organization and to the property of the "Miramonti Majestic" for having believed that my art could be part of the Literary Festival and artistic, through events aimed at nourishing the soul and feelings towards "the way of beauty", understood in all its manifestations.

Constant in his works is the female subject, declined in suspended and dreamy dimensions, even with implications consciously autobiographical?
The art critic Prof. Paolo Levi defined my art "an emotional diary". While never being the subject depicted, the female forms represented in the canvases are an unconscious inner journey. I love grace, kindness and elegance, in an aesthetic sense, but above all in the soul. This is what I try to convey in mine works. In this historical moment where transgression leads to vulgarity and often the woman's body comes commodified, I feel the need to depict the female universe in its meaning, in an attempt to convey the thousand facets of being a woman, with its frailties, fears, courage and strength, where the appearance gives way to essence. With the strokes of color, I describe the many sides of femininity, between paths meaningful life, such as: marriage and motherhood, expressions of normality, a change of clothes, a walk on the beach, the restlessness of a wait, a dance on the sea and so on. Attitudes that preserve a certain sense of modesty, letting the inherent sensuality shine through. I often depict women from behind, because the mystery fascinates, and suggests what is implicit, but at the same time it is a sign of confidentiality and discretion.
When I start a work, the emotion is already at its peak, with color I try to give it shape. The shades used they express my feeling that does not depend on the mood of the day, but on what I have in my soul. I don't like contrasts among people in general, therefore not even in painting; I am a lover of harmonious combinations, and for this reason I use shades in eurythmy between them, in life it is not always possible, I try to compensate through art.
I believe that in this historical / cultural moment, there is more need than ever for kindness and beauty though the latter is subjective, but as I expressed at the beginning, whatever the canon that everyone carries within themselves, it should not never represent vulgarity or even perversion, what unfortunately is happening and is in fashion.

Her artistic career started at a very young age and, before being realized, she made a wide tour, passing through business and commercial experience, coaching and marketing, event organization ...
The need to draw is felt in my very first years of life, I scribble everywhere, preferring the house walls. At the age of 6 she started drawing comics, copying from some Mickey Mouse magazines, and with these I win some competitions reserved for boys. This predisposition, however, is not understood by my family that will decide not to enroll in the artistic high school thus making different paths. From company secretary to interior decorator, where I vent my creativity, creating alternative and innovative furnishings for the period, and in at the same time I write poems, but I put my pencils and colors in a drawer. I specialize in staff training in the commercial field, and I start a path in human resources. Although I really want to teach, mine creativity is always fervent, and pushes me to alternate personal coaching with marketing, creating advertising graphics for companies and organizing events. In 2000, after a particular personal event, he appears with impetus in me the desire to paint, but I do not have the courage or know what to print on the canvas and I decide to experiment with the first splashes of color on some wooden supports. This material will immediately prove to be an element warm, malleable, enough to convince me to start painting real pictures on furniture: cupboards, sideboards, chests, and other furnishing accessories. A few years later I created a showroom for a company, with panels applied to large ceilings decorated and painted with both mythological and sacred characters. The columns of the the hall, on the other hand, is frescoed with grotesques in Romanesque style, inspired by a visit to Pompeii. It will be my last has been operating for many years due to some professional changes. The artistic vein, however, continues to have a strong point recall, and in the set of various work experiences in 2012 I design and direct, the realization of another showroom for a commercial company. After two years, I open the drawers where I had stored pencils, brushes, colors, and this time I find the courage and the desire to fix on the canvas the images that most excite me. I never follow a predefined scheme. Free from any model or fashion of contemporary art, I always indulge my creative self, depicting only what gives me intense emotions, but constantly looking to improve and evolve into artistic sense. For this reason, in 2015 I decided to deepen my pictorial knowledge, studying and still practicing today at an art workshop in the province of Treviso.

Universal symbols sometimes appear in your works, such as the rose, you tell us?
The rose is a symbol of conflicting feelings, a representation of the deepest and most passionate love, an emblem of jealousy, seduction, beauty and elegance. This narration is in tune with my character and soul.
The rose is also an icon of Argentine tango, another passion that invests me and that I describe as a poem of intimacy, in the fluidity of elegant movements, inspirer of some of my works made in the past that certainly I will propose again in the future.

What are your next commitments, do you have further stages for your exhibition activity?
Until March I will be busy with the Cortina review, and for late spring and summer, I plan some collective, on the national territory and also evaluating some proposals at an international level.
I will devote myself to the realization of my project which is quite demanding, relating to the Veneto, which I am counting on to be able to present it in autumn / winter with another personal exhibition within the Region. I'm working on other events, but they are still in their infancy, which should take shape and take place in the summer.
I believe I have enough meat on the fire in this 2020, provided that fate does not reserve me other surprises e artistic challenges that I will accept with pleasure and enthusiasm.
